Dr. Charlie Rouse Puts His Heart Into Helping Yours

Dr. Rouse gives high marks to a new generation of pace makers which have, he says, taken many patients off the transplant list, and with which he has had excellent results. “They’ve definitely improved the quality of life for these patients,” he said.

Dr. Rouse is excited about the creation of a Tanner Health System Heart Center in Carrollton. “Time is muscle,” says Dr. Rouse. “Every minute counts to a victim of heart disease.” The ability to have a state-of-the-art cardiac facility in the West Georgia area is critical. Tanner is one of 10 medical facilities in Georgia selected to perform percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), also known as angioplasty, a service previously unavailable in our area. PCI can be used to treat stable and unstable coronary artery disease (CAD) and to open blocked arteries during a heart attack. The quicker a patient is able to receive relief from a blocked artery, the more likely he will survive cardiac arrest.
