November 10, 2009 - Troop Letter Writing Event At Chick-Fil-A
5:30 - 9 p.m., all Chick-fil-A restaurants in Douglas County. Pens and postcards on hand at the restaurant, so just come in, write a note to a service man or woman and place it in the provided Chick-fil-A mailbox and Chick-fil-A will provide the postage and mail it. Doesn't need to be personally addressed since the Postal Service can send non-specific cards to military personnel all over the world. November 9, 2009 - Called Meeting Of The Douglas County Board Of Education
6 p.m., School Board Central Office, 9030 Ga. Hwy. 5 at Gurley Road. Open to the Public and Free Admission. The purpose of the meeting is to hear a presentation from the Georgia School Boards Association regarding Superintendent Search Program services. "We want this important process to be very transparent with as much public input as possible, stated Board Chairman Jimmy Bartlett. "There will be a time for public input at the meeting, and we encourage the public to attend the presentation. In addition, there will be ample future opportunities for the public to provide input as we work through the selection process. It is important that we utilize an effective data collection strategy during this superintendent selection process, and it is my intention that we collect as much feedback as possible from the public. Since the role of the superintendent is not only important to students, parents and staff but encompasses the entire community, public input is needed. We plan to be open and transparent with the selection process."
