October 29, 2009 - Annual “Big Deal” Fundraiser
The Rotary Club of Douglas County will hold their annual “Big Deal” fundraiser Thursday, October 29th at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Douglasville
Conference Center. The fundraiser features a reverse raffle with a grand prize of $10,000 and five
other cash prizes of $500 each. Only 300 tickets will be sold at $100 each, and you do not have to be present to win.
The dollars raised by the “Big Deal” will help the Rotary Club support worthy causes, including United Way, Boys & Girls Club, Share House, A Gift of Love, Middle School Awards, Humane Society,
Good Samaritan Thanksgiving Dinner, and many more.

October 24, 2009 - Friendly Spooks and Ghoulish Good Times
Come join your Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department for friendly spooks and ghoulish good times! Late October
brings two opportunities to scare up some fun! Friday - Saturday, October 23rd
- 24th are Fun & Fright Nights at Boundary Waters Park. Get a scare on the haunted hayride
through the dark winding trails of Boundary Waters Park. There will be ghosts,
goblins and monsters of all kind for your scaring pleasure! For those who are
not fond of things that go “bump in the night” there will also be a family hayride full of goodies and storytelling, without
the ghosts and goblins! Cost for the haunted hayride is $5 per rider, and the
rides will start at dark.
For the family hayride the cost $3 per rider, and the first ride will be at
7:30. On Friday, October 30th, the 1st annual Fun & Fright Under Twilight Costume Ball makes its screaming debut at the Historic
Old Douglas County Courthouse. Put on your best costume and enjoy a night of
dancing and good times! Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, costume contests and a DJ for your dancing pleasure! Costumes are
required and the event is limited to 21 years old and up! Tickets for the
costume ball will be sold in advance for $15 per individual and $20 per couple,
and will be sold at the door for $20 per individual and $30 per couple.
Advanced tickets will be sold at Deer Lick park for both events beginning on
